The amyloid hypothesis collapses

Earlier research supports this view. Some individuals with high plaque levels show no dementia symptoms, while others with minimal plaques develop severe cognitive impairment.
Why the medical system resists change
The amyloid hypothesis has dominated Alzheimer’s research for over 30 years, shaping drug development and funding priorities. Moving away from it would require acknowledging that billions of dollars and numerous patient trials may have been misguided.
The pharmaceutical industry has heavily invested in amyloid drugs, and the FDA approved them despite weak evidence. Changing direction would mean admitting the current approach fails patients.

If Alzheimer’s stems from factors beyond protein deposits, prevention may be more straightforward than previously believed. Key factors include:
