Nike After Dark Tour Half-Marathon Sells Out

Nike After Dark Tour returns this fall with a half-marathon in Los Angeles on October 24. The race sold out, but the bright-pink merchandise is already live at nike.com.
Nike After Dark Tour Returns to Los Angeles
The event is built around a community for female runners, offering free training plans through the Nike Run Club app.
Its stated goal is to bring participants of all levels together in a supportive space that encourages racing.
In its inaugural year the tour attracted 50,000 participants, according to Seema Simmons, Nike’s VP/GM of North America.
Last year’s Los Angeles race drew 14,000 runners, with 43 percent tackling their first half-marathon.
Simmons, often called the tour’s “godmother,” will line up at the start line as a first-time half-marathoner, making the event part of her own journey.
The After Dark collection features several trainers, apparel and accessories. Shoes such as the Vomero 18 and Pegasus 42 received the signature hi-vis pink treatment.
For a jogger who has never entered a race, the free training plans on the Run Club app turn a solitary run into a structured program, making the first half-marathon feel reachable.
Simmons notes that Gen Z athletes have been the primary drivers of recent growth in distance running.
“[The After Dark Tour] is about creating more starting lines for women so that they can see themselves in the sport wherever they are based on their experience,” said Simmons.
Holding the race after dark also addresses safety concerns. “Just running as a collective can help provide the community and the comfort of running together through the night,” said Simmons.
Product development has leaned heavily on feedback from female athletes, influencing models such as the Vomero 18, Alphafly 3 and the Structure line.
The hi-vis pink color challenges the old “shrink it and pink it” stereotype, turning a once-derided hue into a statement of style and power.
Beyond aesthetics, the bright shade improves visibility for runners who prefer evening training sessions.
Hyper-Pink Collection and Upcoming Releases
LA 13.1 participants will be treated to Alphafly 4 early access, and the shoe is officially available on October 24.
The upcoming Apex model, seen on elite athletes at the Chicago Marathon, is slated for a January 2027 release.
Nike plans to introduce the carbon-plated Swooshfly in February of the following year.
Product Details of the Hyper Pink Line
Designers reshaped the Vomero 18 to accommodate wider feet and reinforce heel stability, incorporating layered ReactX and ZoomX foams for responsive cushioning.
The Vomero Plus builds on that platform, replacing mixed foams with 100 percent ZoomX, resulting in a lighter feel while preserving the supportive ride.
Pegasus 42 balances ground feel and cushioning at 37 mm, featuring a curved ReactX-midsole air unit that provides a responsive experience.
Pegasus Plus 2 adds an exposed air unit, delivering an 18 percent boost in energy return compared with its predecessor, according to internal testing.
Feedback loops with female athletes guided adjustments to fit, cushioning, and heel lock, shaping the current generation of Nike trainers.
After Dark reimagines Nike’s historic women’s race series, framing the night run as a celebratory milestone within a runner’s journey.
