Symrise unveils skin and gut benefits from new beauty - acerowell benefits
Symrise reveals clinical findings showing acerowell’s skin and gut benefits, with new probiotic options for Americas brands at SupplySide Global.

Symrise will unveil new clinical findings for its acerola-based beauty ingredient Acerowell at this year’s SupplySide Global in Las Vegas, while also rolling out expanded probiotic and postbiotic options tailored for the Americas region. The company will display formulation strategies for drinks, chewables, and powdered products, framing its science-supported ingredients as assets for brands pursuing distinct health and wellness positioning.

Study confirms skin benefits from acerola supplementation

A controlled trial with 108 women aged 45 to 60 demonstrated that taking 600 mg of Acerowell daily for 12 weeks led to measurable improvements in skin brightness and clarity. More than 80% of participants observed better luminosity, evenness, and smoothness, according to the company’s data. Visible effects emerged within the first month, with the ingredient designed for powders, gummies, and functional beverages.

The company highlights its end-to-end control over acerola powder production to maintain uniform quality and supply chain transparency. This consistency helps manufacturers create products with reliable performance, a deciding factor when selecting beauty-focused supplements.

Though acerola’s antioxidant effects have been documented for years, this study delivers the first placebo-controlled proof of its direct influence on skin appearance in this age group. The results may encourage brands to move past broad antioxidant claims and instead promote specific skin benefits.

New postbiotic and probiotic developments

Symrise will introduce Rham271h, a postbiotic derived from Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus 6594, as part of its growing biotics lineup. Unlike live probiotics, this inactivated version preserves biological activity while remaining stable under heat or varying acidity—key advantages for products facing formulation challenges. Research cited by Symrise connects the ingredient to higher levels of the anti-inflammatory marker IL-10 and support for gut lining integrity.

Additionally, Symrise will present updated clinical data for its probiotic strains LP299V and LPGOS42, which demonstrated significant relief for digestive discomfort and improved bowel regularity in an eight-week trial with 100 adults experiencing occasional constipation. Those reporting fewer than three bowel movements weekly at the start showed marked increases in natural, complete movements after supplementation. These outcomes expand the strains’ established benefits into active nutrition and athletic performance applications.

Practical formulations and trade show highlights

At its exhibition space, Symrise will display pre-developed formulation ideas for drinks, stick packs, and chewables, integrating its health-focused actives with biotics and flavor-balancing expertise. Isabelle Ducellier, global vice president of Health at Symrise Care and Wellness, noted that the company’s integrated model, connecting research, formulation, and consumer needs, strengthens its role in both the Americas and international markets.
